A Strong Start Before You Start

A strong start before you start, baby boomer entrepreneurs

Sigh… Everybody wants to jump to the ‘fun’  stuff when it comes to launching a business, but I say STOP! Getting a logo and brand colors are the LAST thing you need. You can’t build a house without a solid foundation and you certainly can’t start a successful business without one either.

Starting a business after 50 also means we want to do it right the first time around. We don’t want to be starting over again and again. Planning and preparation will help us do just this.

What a wonderful video. I watched the whole thing. Excellent tips and so true that you need to form your business ideas before jumping into to gettings a logo, website, etc. I’ve always been impulsive so I can relate.

      Hi Rebecca,

Yes, taking a step back and focusing on the basics is a good idea, albeit not a super fun or sexy one. However, if you lay the solid footing, you’ll get to stay with the fun stuff much longer because you’ll have a successful business!

Great article! Wish I would have had this twenty years ago when I started consulting! My son is starting a biz and I’m sharing with him. Great advice.

      Hi Teri,

I am glad you found it helpful and thanks for sharing it with your son. Question for you… what was your experience starting your business consulting business 20 years ago? How has it changed with technology? I’d be curious. So much of my audience gets ‘stuck’ in today’s technology, but the bottom line is good business is good business, it’s simply the delivery methods that have changed – and technology doesn’t have to be hard.
